Moroccan ambassador to France, Shakib Benmoussa, denied on Sunday that his country spied on French President Emmanuel Macron and ex-Prime Minister Edouard Philippe.

"Morocco did not spy on President Emmanuel Macron. It also did not spy on the former Prime Minister or members of the government. Moreover, there is no evidence to support this," Benmoussa stated.

Earlier in the week, media reported that Macron and Michel were targeted by Israeli NSO Group's Pegasus spyware after being listed as contacts of interest by the Moroccan government.
