US opens higher as tech companies make headlines

Major stock markets in the United States opened the trading session on Wednesday higher as traders looked at the latest news from tech companies. Google LLC got official approval to build its mega campus in California, while it announced that it reached an agreement with HCA Healthcare to develop algorithms based on patients' data. Meanwhile, Microsoft moved its focus to software developers, and Amazon unveiled a landmark acquisition of MGM Studios, as it tried to make strides in the entertainment business.

The Dow Jones opened 0.18% in the green, as Nike shares were up by 1.01%. The Nasdaq 100 was 0.22% higher, with Pinduoduo rising 3.22%. The S&P 500 increased by 0.17%, as Ford Motor increased 2.73%.

The euro declined 0.24% against the dollar trading for $1.22222 at 9:32 am ET.
