Businesses of all sizes across various industries that use United States financial service company Fiserv Inc's Clover and Carat commerce ecosystems will be able to support point of sale (POS) touch-free payment capabilities for services like PayPal and Venmo, according to an official announcement by Fiserv released on Tuesday.

“By enabling consumers to pay digitally via a QR code and popular digital wallets like PayPal and Venmo, businesses are providing added convenience and choice as in-person shopping, dining and entertainment experiences resume,” said Fiserv's Head of Global Business Solutions Devin McGranahan. He stated that connecting physical and digital commerce via touch-free interactions is "crucial", a sentiment also echoed by PayPal's Senior Vice President of Commerce Frank Keller.

The Clover POS platform is owned by Fiserv Inc's subsidiary First Data Corporation. Fiserv acquired First Data in 2019 through a $22 billion merger agreement.
