Dow jumps 200 pts at open with all eyes on Fed

Shares on the major equity market indexes in the United States traded higher at open on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average soaring 200 points, as the investors awaited the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy ruling.

In business news, Netflix bought Roald Dahl Story Company, while exchange-traded fund issuer Invesco reportedly plans to venture into cryptocurrency-backed funds.

The Dow Jones surged 0.59%, or 204 points, at the open. Caterpillar Inc. strengthened by 1.89% a minute into the session as the benchmark's top performer. As the session started, the Nasdaq 100 gained 0.28% with PACCAR up by 1.92% two minutes later. At the same time, the S&P 500 advanced by 0.47%, as Freeport-McMoRan rallied 5.07%. The euro stood unchanged versus the dollar, going for 1.17262 at 9:29 am ET.
