Precious metals extend losses, silver tumbles 3%

Prices of precious metals sank deeper on Thursday, with gold losing almost 2% and silver dropping more than 3%.

The sentiment among the traders was seemingly impacted by better-than-expected data on the retail sales in the United States.

Silver plunged 3.02% to $23.12 per ounce at 8:49 am ET, while gold dipped 1.72% to sell for $1,763.20 an ounce at the same time. A minute later, platinum lost 0.29% to $946.58, with palladium moving up 1.76% and selling for $2,045.46 at 8:51 am ET.
