Chip shortage likely to last 2 more years - Daimler CEO

Sunday, 05. September 2021 20:28

Daimler AG Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ola Kaellenius (pictured) stated on Sunday he expects the ongoing shortage of semiconductors to last two more years, although the situation could get "more relaxed" in 2023.

"Several chip suppliers have been referring to structural problems with demand," he said. He added the company hopes its own supply of chips will grow in the fourth quarter, despite the shortage.

In spite of the issue, Daimler managed to top estimates concerning its revenue in the second trimester.
