Tesco, Carrefour decide not to extend alliance

Monday, 07. June 2021 10:41

Tesco plc and Carrefour S.A. stated on Monday that they do not intend to renew their purchasing alliance after its operational framework expires at the end of 2021. The British and French supermarket chains agreed to cooperate in 2018 on their "strategic relationship with global suppliers, the joint purchasing of own brand products and goods not for resale."

"Over the last three years, Carrefour and Tesco have benefited from a number of joint buying opportunities across food and general merchandise categories, enabling access to new suppliers, new sources and new products. Moving forward, both companies have agreed that they will continue this work independently and focus on their own opportunities, building on the experience and the progress made during the alliance period," they said in a joint statement.
