Europe in the red in premarket, focus on Brexit

Markets in Europe traded in the red ahead of the opening bell as investors remained focused on the ongoing Brexit developments in the United Kingdom. Market watchers digested the most recent report stating that British Prime Minister Theresa May is reportedly considering proposing a plan to her Cabinet to delay the United Kingdom's departure from the European Union scheduled for March 29. Meanwhile, investors also looked at a string of corporate data and earnings reports.

The DAX lost 0.45% at 8:50 am CET, the CAC 40 declined 0.24% at the same time while the FTSE 100 fell 0.63%. In the meantime, the Eurostoxx 50 decreased 0.32% at the same time.

The euro traded 0.05% lower against the US dollar to go for 1.1355 at 8:52 am CET.
