Dow jumps 150 pts at open after Monday sell-off

Shares on the major stock market indexes in the United States opened higher on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining over 150 points, as the markets partially rebounded after Monday's sell-off.

The traders digested optimistic data released by Johnson & Johnson regarding the company's COVID-19 booster shot efficacy, as well as the better-than-expected report on August's housing starts in the US.

The Dow Jones soared 0.46%, or 156 points, as the session started with Dow Inc. strengthening 1%. The Nasdaq 100 advanced by 0.46% at the same time, as ASML Holding surged 1.85% a minute later. The S&P 500 concurrently moved up by 0.47% with ConocoPhillips rising 2.8%. The euro increased by 0.06% versus the dollar at 9:29 am ET, selling for 1.17332.
