French parliament approves bill demanding COVID passes

Monday, 26. July 2021 03:57

The French parliament approved a bill that mandates coronavirus passes for all domestic travel, The Associated Press reported.

The legislation only applies to adults and is expected to cover all individuals aged 12 and older starting September 30. It demands of health care workers to get vaccinated and requires people boarding planes or trains to show "health passes," which are also a requirement for entering restaurants and other public places.

The bill's passage comes after President Emmanuel Macron vowed to tackle the low vaccination rate across the country in an effort to protect those most vulnerable.
