The British government is considering lifting restrictions on travel from France sometime next week, The Times reported, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.

France could be removed from United Kingdom's "amber-plus" travel list at the next review, with UK officials seemingly acknowledging that the threat from the Beta variant of the virus is no longer a problem.

A week ago, London reintroduced quarantine rules for people returning from France over concerns about a rise in cases of the new more infectious variant of the virus.
