Asia-Pacific higher following data

Major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded higher on Monday, as investors digested the latest economic news coming out of Japan.

The country's industrial production sector grew to better-than-expected levels in April, sparking hopes of a quicker recovery. Meanwhile, Hyundai announced it was halting production in a factory in the United States due to the ongoing chip shortage.

The Nikkei 225 increased 0.56% at 7:17 am CET, while the Kospi Composite was up 0.07% a minute later. The dollar rose 0.07% against the yen trading for ¥109.7480 at 7:19 am CET. Markets in Australia, Hong Kong, and mainland China were closed due to market holidays.
