Brussels wants EU-US tariffs halted for 6 more months

The European Union has proposed that all tariffs Brusells and Washington had imposed against each other be suspended for six additional months to facilitate finding a resolution to their issues, European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis (pictured) revealed on Saturday.

Speaking in an interview with Der Spiegel, he noted that such a move would enable businesses and workers from both territories to receive some "breathing space."

Last month, the two sides agreed on a four-month-long suspension of tariffs resulting from the subsidies dispute involving Airbus SE and The Boeing Company. A six-month extension of the deal would mean that the tariff halt would expire in January 2022.
