Le Drian wants halt to 'poisonous' US-EU trade dispute

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Driand called for a suspension of the trade dispute between the United States and the European Union.

"The issue that’s poisoning everyone is that of the price escalation and taxes on steel, digital technology, Airbus and more particularly our wine sector," Le Drian told Le Journal du Dimanche in an interview published on Sunday. "It may take time, but in the meantime, we can always order a moratorium," he added.

In December, the US introduced tariffs on additional European products as part of the two sides' dispute Airbus-Boeing subsidies dispute. The EU has not responded with retaliatory measures yet despite calls from Airbus to do so.
