DAX, CAC extend gains, FTSE turns positive

Germany's DAX and France's CAC 40 extended gains from earlier in the session and the British FTSE 100 followed the sentiment from the continent as it also turned green during the morning session. The move came as Russian President Vladimir Putin finally congratulated United States President-elect Joe Biden on winning the 2020 elections and China called for more talks with the US, hinting to at least a small pause in geopolitical tensions between global powers.

The DAX jumped 100 points and was 0.75% higher at 11:01 am CET as Volkswagen surged 5.11% at the same time. The CAC 40 was 0.57% in the green at 11:02 am CET, with ArcelorMittal gaining 4.70% at 10:47 am CET. The FTSE 100 was 0.15% higher at 11:03 am CET as Jd Sports Fashion soared 5.06% at 10:47 am CET.

The euro increased by 0.09% to go for 1.21581 against the dollar at 11:04 am CET. At the same time, the pound lost 0.10% compared to the greenback to trade at 1.33128.
