The United States National Basketball Association (NBA) announced it will commemorate its 75th season by naming the 75 greatest players in its competitive history.

"We look forward to honoring the players and teams, both past and present, who have inspired generations of fans around the world," NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stated. The list will be created by a group of active and former players, coaches, team managers, executives, and experts.

The NBA celebrated its 75th anniversary on June 6. Its first official match was played on November 1, 1946, in Toronto between the then-existing Toronto Huskies and the New York Knicks.
