Japan's retail trade up by 3.1% in June

Retail sales in Japan went up by 3.1% in June in comparison to the month before, beating analysts' expectations, the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry revealed in its report published on Friday.

On an annual level, the figure rose by only 0.1%, slightly below projections.

Commercial sales saw an increase of 4.8% month-on-month and a staggering 10.8% year-on-year. Meanwhile, wholesale sales expanded by 4.6% since May and by 15.3% in comparison to the same month last year.
