US shares turn flat to lower premarket after data

Shares on Wall Street turned flat to lower in late premarket trading on Thursday following news of an unexpected increase in the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits last week.

According to the latest data from the Labor Department, weekly jobless claims climbed by 51,000 to 419,000 last week.

The Dow declined 0.10% at 8:45 am ET following the unemployment update. At the same time, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100 traded flat after trading with modest gains earlier in today's premarket session.
