Europe opens higher amid new economic updates

Major stock markets in Europe opened higher on Tuesday amid the releases of several economic reports throughout the day. Germany saw a rise of 1.4% in import prices and will later reveal its latest results in consumer prices. The European Union will present a new report on consumer confidence. Earlier, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported Johnson and Johnson (J&J) would start delivering the first doses of its vaccine against COVID-19 on April 19.

The DAX started today's trading session 0.55% higher as Volkswagen AG went up by 1.92%. The FTSE 100 gained 0.51%, with Renishaw PLC advancing by 2.23%. The CAC 40 grew by 0.50% as Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE increased by 2.32%.

The euro lost 0.15% to the dollar to sell for $1.17470 at 8:57 am CET. At the same time, the pound sterling stood flat against the greenback to change hands for $1.37562.
