Imtech: 60 million orders in the Spanish industrial market

Wednesday, 08. December 2010 07:30
Despite difficult market circumstances Imtech is able to hold its ground in
Spain. The key reason for this is that around 40% of the revenue is realised on
the basis of (long-term) maintenance contracts. Since Imtech is more and more
combining mechanical and electrical solutions, these contracts are becoming
increasingly multidisciplinary in nature. As a result, Imtech is involved more
often as a technology partner in clients' core production processes. This leads
to additional spin-offs. That is why Imtech recently obtained new industrial
orders for maintenance, shut-downs and upgrading with a total value just short
of 60 million euro.

Imtech CEO René van der Bruggen: 'Imtech is one of the strongest players in the
Spanish industrial technology market and is able - despite difficult market
circumstances - to reap the benefits of strategic choices made in the recent
past. Imtech is specialised in industrial maintenance, industrial shut-downs,
technical upgrading, renovation and industrial services in among others the oil
and gas industry, the (petro)chemical sector, the pharmaceutical sector, the
energy market and the steel markets. We have always enjoyed a strong position in
the industrial maintenance market, but recently - next to mechanical activities
- broadened our portfolio to include organically structured electrical services.
This strategic focus is currently paying off in the shape of a series of medium-
sized orders.'

Repsol C-10 project spin-off
In addition to the Repsol project in Cartagena, involving the doubling of the
refinery capacity to 70 million barrels of oil per day (the 'C-10 project') -
which is currently being executed -Imtech received orders for the
multidisciplinary instrumentation (the combination of electrical engineering and
mechanical services) of this expansion project. The company also received an
order from Repsol for the combination of dynamic and static maintenance (once
again a combination of electrical and mechanical services) in Puerto Llano. Both
orders are characterised by a high level of innovation and are groundbreaking
for Imtech in Spain.

Energy efficiency in the industrial sector
Energy efficiency is playing an increasingly important role in the industrial
sector. Imtech is involved, among other projects, in increasing the energy
efficiency of the oil and gas company Cepsa as well as Acciona's major thermal
solar energy projects.

Shut-downs, maintenance and upgrading in the industrial sector
Despite increasing competition and pressure on prices, Imtech is performing fine
in the industrial sector. Imtech is involved in numerous shut-downs, maintenance
and upgrading projects. It not only serves the oil and gas companies Repsol,
Cepsa and BP, but also for a chemical plant of the pharmaceutical company Bayer,
steel manufacturer Acerinox and tank storage company CLH. Besides maintenance
and the repair of tanks, Imtech also provides CLH with total solutions for new
storage facilities. All these customers are characterized by a high degree of
export of their products.
