Facebook to target 'coordinated social harm' campaigns

Facebook Inc. announced on Thursday its intention to combat campaigns conducted on its platforms characterized as spreading "coordinated social harm."

The company's Head of Security Policy Nathaniel Gleicher stated the new measures will address the activity by the people that "used authentic and duplicate accounts to post and amplify violating content, primarily focused on promoting the conspiracy that the German government's COVID-19 restrictions are part of a larger plan to strip citizens of their freedoms and basic rights."

Back in July, Facebook rejected part of the public's claims it has contributed to the spread of misinformation about COVID-19 by not removing such posts from its pages.
