Twitter launches new Communities feature

Twitter Inc. announced on Wednesday that it is launching a new feature called Communities, that would enable users to tweet and engage with like-minded individuals on the platform.

The social media giant stated that the new feature would mean that only members of the same Community on Twitter join discussions that have been started there, saying that this makes the conversations more "intimate and relevant." However, Community pages and timelines will be publicly available to read.

The Communities feature is still undergoing tests, and the public launch is meant to help in that endeavor, as Twitter seems to be intent on creating a direct rival for Facebook Groups and Reddit.
