Google LLC has extended its voluntary return-to-office policy to January 2022 amid a renewed rise in coronavirus cases caused by the new Delta variant.

Additionally, the tech giant stated it will allow offices in different countries to make decisions on potentially extending the policy based on the local COVID-19 situation.

"The road ahead may be a little longer and bumpier than we hoped, yet I remain optimistic that we will get through it together," CEO Sundar Pichai said in a letter to employees.
