FB, Google praise G7's minimum global tax call

Alphabet Inc.'s Google and Facebook Inc. hailed on Saturday the Group of Seven's (G7) decision to support United States President Joe Biden's call for a minimum global corporate tax of at least 15%.

"We want the international tax reform process to succeed and recognize this could mean Facebook paying more tax, and in different places," Facebook's Vice-President for Global Affairs and Communications Nick Clegg stated. Meanwhile, Google said it "strongly" supports the idea of a "balanced and durable" agreement.

Earlier in the day, the G7 agreed to support the proposal o a minimum global corporate tax of "at least 15% operated on a country-by-country basis."
