Daily Mail sues Google over manipulating search results

The owner of British newspaper Daily Mail, Associated Newspapers, filed an anti-trust suit against Google on Tuesday over abusing its power to manipulate search results in favor of those publishers who give more space to Google advertising.

The suit was filed in Manhattan federal court. The publisher's spokesperson said that suspicion of the tech giant's mal activity is rooted in the low outreach the online media outlet was able to achieve by covering the royal family in 2021, therefore Google is suspected to have suppressed their content.

The lawsuit also claims that Google's efforts to abandon the "cookies" tool for user privacy reasons will make it more difficult for advertisers to target their ads, unless they buy their space through the Google system.
