Pöyry awarded EUR 5 million hydropower services contract in UK

Pöyry's Energy business group has been awarded an engineering
contract by the Hochtief Glendoe Joint Venture for the detail design
and construction support of the new Glendoe hydropower scheme in the
UK. The total value of the contract is approximately EUR 5 million.

The project site is located in Scotland near to Fort Augustus which
lies on Loch Ness. The scheme comprises a catchment area with 19
intakes, a concrete-faced rockfill dam of 35 m height and a cavern
powerhouse with a single Pelton turbine with an installed capacity of
100 MW. The construction phase has already started and is estimated
to last over three years. The commissioning of the hydropower plant
is envisaged to take place in autumn of 2008. Pöyry has already
provided consultancy services to Hochtief during the tender phase of
the hydropower scheme.

The Glendoe project is the largest new build conventional hydropower
project realized in Scotland for the last fifty years and will
provide an important peak load capability for the Scottish and
Southern Energy utility. Hochtief is one of the biggest international
contractors and will provide overall EPC services to Scottish and
Southern Energy.
