Shares of pharmaceutical companies Moderna Inc, BioNTech SE, and Pfizer Inc. plummeted on Friday as the investors awaited the United States Food and Drug Administration's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee decision on whether the US should start administering booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

While both US President Joe Biden and the White House officials were in favor of booster shots, most of the reports estimate that the FDA's advisory boards remained largely neutral ahead of today's meetings.

Pfizer's shares slid 1.19%, selling for $43.95 at 1:00 pm ET, while BioNTech's stocks tumbled 4.31% to $356.6 at 1:15 pm ET. A minute later, Moderna plunged 4.73% to $419.98.
