Google to add new options to protect minors' privacy

Alphabet Inc.'s Google announced on Tuesday it will introduce new options to protect minors' privacy on its platforms such as Google Search, YouTube, YouTube Kids, etc.

Those changes will include the possibility to request having a minor's photographs removed from Google Images, videos on YouTube shown only to those a minor shares it directly with, and removing "overly commercial content" from YouTube Kids.

"While some of these updates directly address upcoming regulations, we've gone beyond what’s required by law to protect teens on Google and YouTube," one of the company's representatives told TechCrunch. "Many of these changes also extend beyond any single current or upcoming regulation. We're looking at ways to develop consistent product experiences and user controls for kids and teens globally."
