The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced on Wednesday signing a major sponsorship deal with Russia's energy giant Gazprom. Under the agreement, Gazprom will be the general sponsor of two UEFA Euro Cups in 2020 and 2024, as well the 2021 and 2023 Nations League finals.

"Gazprom has proved over the years to be one of our most trusted partners and we are delighted to be welcoming them as a UEFA National Team Football sponsor for the first time, while we are equally thrilled they will continue their partnership with the world's greatest club competition - the UEFA Champions League, for another three years," said UEFA official Guy-Laurent Epstein.

The 2020 UEFA Euro Cup was postponed to June-July 2021 due to COVID-19 measures. After Ireland's Dublin and Spain's Bilbao pulled out of hosting the championship games because of the pandemic lockdown, the list of hosting cities shrunk to 11, out of which Russia's St. Petersburg will now hold 6 matches.
