Google to shift away from Oracle's finance software

Monday, 05. April 2021 21:57

Alphabet Inc. will stop using the financial software developed by Oracle Corp. in the upcoming weeks and switch to SAP, CNBC reported on Monday citing obtained emails.

The news channel also cited internal sources saying the fact that Oracle hasn't certified its database for use in Google Cloud widely prevented it from being adopted by large companies. Amazon, the leader in the cloud industry, already reduced the presence of Oracle's software by developing its own services.

However, the decision made by Google's parent company is unlikely to be related to the earlier ruling by the United States Supreme Court in the $9 billion dispute which said that Oracle couldn't claim copyright on written Java software partly used by Google Android.
