Alphabet Inc.'s Google LLC announced on Tuesday that the company will decrease "the service fee" it charges developers who sell digital goods and services on the Google Play platform "to 15% for the first" $1 million "of revenue every developer earns each year."

"With this change, 99% of developers globally that sell digital goods and services with Play will see a 50% reduction in fees," Google Product Management Vice President Sameer Samat said in a blog post.

The tech giant previously charged a 30% commission to all developers, regardless of their revenue earned through the Play billing system.
