DENVER, CO, March 07, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via NEWMEDIAWIRE – Phoenix Life Sciences International Limited (OTC: PLSI) (“Phoenix Life”, ”the Company”), an international adaptive healthcare solutions company, today announced that it has broken ground on its first Community Clinic and Dispensing Pharmacy for the treatment of diabetes in the Republic of Vanuatu. The Company held a groundbreaking event at 11:00 a.m. on March 5th in Erakor Village, Vanuatu where the Paramount Chief welcomed Phoenix Life officials, such as Global Head of Security and Transport, Former Police Commissioner John Taleo, Head of National Healthcare, Former Director of Port Vila Central Hospital, the Department of Curative & Hospital Services and Vanuatu’s Ministry of Health, Dr. Santus Wari, and Martin Tindall, Phoenix Life CEO and Founder.

According to the International Diabetes Federation, 1 in 10 Vanuatu citizens are diagnosed with diabetes every year. This is why Denver-based Phoenix Life chose to tackle diabetes in The Republic of Vanuatu, with a focus on addressing the national diabetes epidemic with Phoenix Metabolic, a plant based pharmaceutical, extracted from the cannabis plant and designed to specifically manage diabetes and its complications. Phoenix Life intends to deliver programs to make diabetes healthcare more accessible and affordable for national healthcare system providers, such as governments in the developing and least developed nations.

“We appreciate the work that Phoenix Life Sciences International is doing in the Republic of Vanuatu to create a solution for our diabetes epidemic using botanical medicine. We’re sorry we were unable to attend the groundbreaking at Erakor Village but we are very excited for the commencement of Phoenix Life’s national diabetes screening and management program in the upcoming months,” said Vanuatu Minister of Health Hon. Jack Norris Kalmet.

At the event, Dr. Santus Wari gave a speech on the benefits of this clinic and stressed the importance of citizens participating in blood sugar testing to better understand their health. Phoenix Life CEO Martin Tindall explained the company’s plans to open a national network of Phoenix Life Community Clinics and Dispensing Pharmacies over the next year. Further, Tindall explained that Phoenix Life plans to conduct clinical trials in Vanuatu, to be overseen by leading endocrinologists from Australia and the United States. These double blind randomized clinical trials will be used to confirm the efficacy of Phoenix Metabolic as a treatment for diabetes as part of Phoenix Life’s global rollout strategy.

Through this Community Clinic and future locations, Phoenix Life plans to increase healthcare infrastructure throughout the nation to promote better health and provide significant improvements in healthcare, initially in the field of diabetes management. Now at locations around the Island Nation and at the event, Phoenix Life offers complimentary blood sugar screenings to test for diabetes and pre-diabetes in the population. Approximately 400 people were screened at the event. Attendees were served a healthy lunch made of traditional Vanuatu cuisine (Island Kai Kai) and taught about ways to improve their health through clean eating habits.

“Diabetes is a disease that affects millions across the globe and is near to my heart as my family, like so many others, has been affected by it,” said Martin Tindall, CEO of Phoenix Life Sciences International Limited. “The groundbreaking of our first Community Clinic and Dispensing Pharmacy for the treatment of diabetes is an exciting next step for Phoenix Life as we work diligently to carry out our mission of transforming international healthcare.”

The clinic will be the first of a national network of Community Clinics and Dispensing Pharmacies for Phoenix Life and will feature examination rooms, analytical labs, a dispensing pharmacy and other services for the health of the local people. As Phoenix Life continues rolling out its screening program “Sik Suka ? Jekem Ia !”, and a national network of Community Clinics and Dispensing Pharmacies, Phoenix Life invites all Vanuatu citizens to receive free blood sugar screenings and, if applicable, treatment.
