European stocks open higher with data in focus

Major European indexes began Tuesday's trading session in the green as fears regarding the renewed surge in coronavirus infections subsided slightly. Destatis reported that Germany's economy expanded 1.6% in the second quarter.

The FTSE 100 started 0.13% higher as BHP Group plc grew 1.77%. The DAX increased 0.27% at the opening bell. Infineon Technologies AG gained 0.96%. The CAC 40 advanced 0.50% with Renault SA climbing 1.26%.

The euro was unchanged against the dollar at 8:59 am CET, going for $1.17402. The pound rose 0.11% to $1.37358 at the same time.
