Asia trades higher on Fed decision, IPO policy shift

Shares in the Asia-Pacific region traded with gains on Thursday after the United States Federal Reserve left the key interest rates unchanged after its latest policy meeting.

A report said earlier that China intends to allow companies to go public overseas if they are able to prove they meet the listing criteria.

The Nikkei 225 gained 0.64% at 7:15 am CET, while the dollar lost 0.14% to the yen to sell for 109.7610. At the same time, South Korea's Kospi stood flat. Australia's S&P/ASX went up by 0.36% a minute later.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite increased by 1.21% at 7:16 am CET. The Shenzhen Composite surged by 2.88% at 7:18 am CET. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rocketed by 2.9% at 7:15 am CET.
