A recent study showed that the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine BNT162b2 developed by Pfizer and BioNTech fell from 96%, within two months of receiving it, to 84% six months after vaccination.

In a preprint published by medRxiv that has not been certified by peer review, researchers noted that the ongoing study involves over 44,000 participants who either received 2 vaccine doses or a placebo.

"With up to 6 months of follow-up and despite a gradually declining trend in vaccine efficacy, BNT162b2 had a favorable safety profile and was highly efficacious in preventing COVID-19," the scientists noted.
