Sydney to receive 50,000 more virus vaccine shots

Saturday, 24. July 2021 10:34

Canberra announced on Saturday it will administer 50,000 additional doses of Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE's vaccine against COVID-19 to Sydney as the area around the New South Wales capital reported 163 out of 176 new infections observed in Australia in the previous 24 hours.

New South Wales State Health Minister Brad Hazzard stressed the immunization is the only way to prevent the further spread of the virus as citizens seem not to be following the order to stay at home.

On July 14, local authorities extended the lockdown in Sydney for another two weeks.
