Europe opens lower as UK inflation hits 3-year high

Major European stock markets registered losses at Wednesday's opening bell following the release of last month's consumer and producer inflation data for the United Kingdom.

While the annual UK inflation surpassed estimates by reaching a nearly three-year high at 2.5% in June, the producer prices increased by less than expected 4.3% in the same month.

The FTSE 100 lost 0.46% at the open, as IAG S.A. plunged 2.35%. The DAX dropped 0.38%, with Siemens AG declining 0.74%. The CAC 40 fell 0.42%. Airbus SE led the table by decreasing 1.08%. The euro gained 0.12% against the dollar to trade for 1.17910 at 9:03 am CET, while the pound rose 0.25% to $1.38452.
