United Airlines announced on Tuesday the company has made the largest aircraft order in its history, having purchased 270 narrow-body jetliners from Boeing and Airbus in an effort to boost its business following the coronavirus pandemic.

The order includes fifty 737 MAX 8s, one hundred fifty 737 MAX 10s, and seventy A321neos, according to a press release, and will have a "transformational effect" as it will increase the total number of available seats per domestic departure by almost 30%.

The airline also said the order will create 25,000 new jobs at United, including pilots, flight attendants and mechanics.
