US shares open higher, Dow gains over 150 points

Stock indexes in the United States opened higher on Friday as shares continued to recover. Yesterday's initial jobless claims report brought better-than-expected figures as the claims dropped to their lowest since March 14, 2020. The manufacturing and services sectors are expected to show continued expansion in the latest PMI release, while home sales are projected to increase in the April report.

The Dow Jones was up 0.53% or 170 points at 9:30 am ET, as the Boeing Co. increased by 1.76%. The S&P 500 rose by 0.44% at the same time, with Nvidia Corp. gaining 2.30%. The Nasdaq 100 added 0.48%, led by Okta's 2.76% rise.

The euro traded 0.30% lower against the dollar and sold for 1.21913 at 9:34 am ET.
