Europe ends in green as recovery continues

Major European stock markets closed with gains on Wednesday as the economic recovery from the coronavirus crisis steadily continued followed by the drop in newly recorded COVID-19 cases.

Earlier today, Eurostat reported the Eurozone's industrial production annually jumped 10.9% in March, while the European Commission estimated the bloc's economy will rebound to pre-crisis levels by 2023.

The DAX grew 0.20% at the closing bell, with Bayer surging 7.32%. The FTSE increased by 0.82%, as Diageo plc soared 3.53%. The CAC 40 advanced 0.19%. Total was the best performer, expanding 2.58%. The euro lost 0.59% against the dollar to sell for 1.20741, while the pound fell 0.33% to $1.40962.
