Europe opens higher after earnings

Major stock markets in Europe opened in the green on Thursday after Airbus, Shell, Total, Unilever and NatWest all released their latest quarterly numbers. Investors will also monitor the latest economic data reports on Germany's unemployment rate and inflation and the consumer confidence in the European Union, set to be published later in the day.

The DAX rose by 0.25% at 9:02 am CET as Henkel led the gains, ticking 1.00% higher at 9:05 am CET. London's FTSE 100 was 0.61% up at 9:02 am CET as Smith & Nephew jumped 4.38% at the same time. The CAC 40 advanced 0.59% at 9:01 am CET with Airbus gaining 2.28% at 9:03 am CET.

The euro was flat compared to the dollar at 9:05 am CET, trading for 1.21213. The British pound was 0.20% higher against the American currency, going for 1.39668 concurrently.
