Europe opens mixed amid key earnings

Major European stock indexes started mixed on Thursday as some of the biggest companies reported their quarterly earnings and big losses. Also, investors are waiting for the European Central Bank to have its monetary policy meeting accounts later in the day. Meanwhile, on the data front, European Commission will report on consumer confidence in the Eurozone.

The DAX was 0.13% in the green at 9:08 am CET as Daimler AG rose by 2.52% at 9:04 am CET. The CAC 40 lost 0.14% at 9:00 am CET with Orange going down by 3.64% at 9:02 am CET. The FTSE 100 was slightly up by 0.06% at 9:01 am CET. Antofagasta Plc was the best performer rising by 2.07% at 9:01 am CET.

The euro rose 0.06% against the dollar to 1.20520 at 9:05 am CET and the pound was up by 0.06% compared to the greenback, going for 1.38730 a minute later.
