Airbus: Production to stay lower longer

Thursday, 21. January 2021 18:00

Airbus will keep its production rates lower longer than initially expected, the company announced on Thursday, explaining that it will now be producing 43 aircraft from its A320 family in the third quarter of this year and 45 A320 family airplanes in the final three months of 2021. The company previously planned to increase production to 47 aircraft per month as of July.

The French company stressed it will increase A220 production from four to five airplanes per month, as it had planned. However, the aircraft maker added it is postponing the increase in production of the A350 to an undisclosed date.

Airbus noted that it now foresees the commercial aircraft market returning to levels of production seen before the COVID-19 pandemic by 2023 to 2025.
