Volkswagen AG announced on Monday it was reshuffling the management of the VW brand reassigning responsibilities between the brand and the Group management.

Herbert Diess, who served both as the Chief Executive Officer of the Volkswagen Group and VW brand, will give up his role as chief of the VW brand, while remaining Group CEO and keeping responsibility for Volkswagen passenger cars. The VW brand is to be led by the brand’s previous Chief Operating Officer, Ralf Brandstaetter from July 1.

Diess, along with another top Volkswagen executive recently avoided charges in Germany related to the company's dieselgate scandal, after €4.5 million settlement.
