Nokia names new CEO

Nokia Corporation announced on Monday that its Board of Directors decided to name Pekka Lundmark as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Lundmark will assume the role on September 1, 2020.

At the moment, he is the President and CEO of the Finnish energy company Fortum, where he delivered strong results, according to Nokia's statement. He previously worked at Nokia from 1990 to 2000 in several senior roles.

"Together we can create shareholder value by delivering on Nokia's mission to create the technology to connect the world. I am confident that the company is well-positioned for the 5G era and it is my goal to ensure that we meet our commitments to our customers, employees, shareholders and other stakeholders," Lundmark said in the company's press release.

Nokia's current President and CEO Rajeev Suri will step down after spending 25 years with the company.
