Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) announced in a press release on Monday it permitted the construction firm Nord Stream 2 AG to work on the German part of the gas transit pipeline during the first quarter of 2020.

BSH stated that it has "given the approval needed to complete the construction of Nord Stream 2 pipeline on a 16.5 km stretch during the winter months", as the BSH was "unable to detect any possible major problems that could appear during the pipeline laying works in the winter".

Earlier today, German energy supply company Uniper, which also participates in Nord Stream 2 construction, expressed hopes that the project will be completed soon, despite the United States' sanctions.
