Facebook appoints Turkey rep to comply with law

Facebook has appointed a representative for Turkey to complly with Ankara's new social media law, Anadolu Agency reported on Monday. The deadline for picking a local representative was January 19.

Initially, the American tech giant had refused to comply with the legislation which foresees fines for any company that refuses to appoint a representative. Additionally, Turkey said it could ban Turkish firms from buying ads on any platform that disregards the law.

Earlier, LinkedIn, Youtube and TikTok all appointed represenatatives to Turkey.
