Greece to buy 18 Rafale jets from France - PM

Greece will sign a contract within next few days to purchase 18 Rafale jet fighters from France, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated on Tuesday.

This type of fighters, developed by Dassault Aviation, is known for its twin-engine and the equipped wide range of weapons that enable operations of ground support missions, perform interdiction, reconnaissance from above, as well as in-depth and anti-ship strikes.

According to the Greek government's head, this purchase is part of the country's new defense strategy towards the "Turkish threat" and will engage more than €5.5 billion in the budget of 2021, 57% more compared to 2019.
