US opens lower as jobless claims increase

Major stock market indexes in the United States opened Thursday’s session in the red, as the uncertainty in the labor market smoldered after the increased number of initial jobless claims in the week ending November 14. Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund stated that the economic outlook “remains prone to setbacks” despite upbeat news from the COVID-19 vaccine front amid an escalation of the worldwide deaths.

At the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.46%, as Boeing was 3.21% down at 9:34 am CET. The Nasdaq 100 was down by 0.12% at 9:30 am ET, after the drop of Baidu by 2.93% at 9:35 am CET. The S&P 500 dipped 0.39% at the session's beginning, as Lowe's Companies Inc underperformed by 8.21% at 9:36 am CET.

The euro went down by 0.23% to sell for $1.18260 at 9:27 am CET.
