Italy's COVID cases grow by 17,012, deaths up by 141

The number of coronavirus infections climbed by 17,012 since yesterday's update to reach 542,789 in Italy, the country's health authorities unveiled on Monday. The daily figure stood below a record high registered on Sunday.

The nation's death toll from COVID-19 was at 37,479 as it went up by 141 in the past 24 hours, official data showed, marking a slight increase compared to the previous day's growth.

Meanwhile, a total of 268,626 Italian residents have recovered from the disease since the beginning of the pandemic.
